Attending the Calgary Home and Garden Show gave us a unique chance to connect with people who share our passion for home improvement and design. The event was full of energy, ideas, and meaningful conversations. We want to share what stood out to us, what we would approach differently next time, and the valuable connections we made with customers, contractors, designers, and home builders.

What We Enjoyed Most
The atmosphere at the show was inspiring. Walking through rows of booths, we saw a wide range of products and ideas that sparked creativity. One highlight was the opportunity to meet former customers face-to-face. Hearing their stories about how our products helped transform their homes was rewarding and motivating.
We also appreciated the diversity of attendees. From homeowners looking for fresh ideas to contractors searching for reliable suppliers, the show brought together a community eager to share knowledge. The conversations with designers and home builders were especially insightful. They offered perspectives on current trends and practical advice for integrating new features into homes.
What We Would Do Differently
While the event was a success, there are areas we would improve for next time. First, we noticed that our booth layout could have been more centralized. We had a beautiful banner on the left side that caught a lot of attention to our products. Many passing on the right didn’t catch the visual, so we would certainly add something for both directions.
We also realized the importance of having more staff available during peak hours. At times, our team was stretched thin, which limited the depth of conversations we could have. As owners we took it upon ourselves to be there, but could have used another hand during the peaks on Saturday and Sunday.
Another lesson learned was the value of follow-up. We collected only a few contacts on day 1 and 2 as our QR code didn’t work on our banner. We were able to collect more entries for our prize draw by creating an easier collection method.
And lastly, the snacks! Our mindset going in was to have snacks for the children. It turns out everyone appreciates snacks, even if they aren’t interested in talking to you about your products. This is something we would reevaluate for next time.

Building Real Connections
One of the most rewarding parts of the show was the genuine connections we made. Meeting former customers in person helped us understand their needs better and gave us ideas for improving our products and services. Their feedback was honest and constructive, which is invaluable for growth.
We also connected with contractors who shared their challenges and preferences when sourcing materials. These conversations revealed opportunities to tailor our offerings to better support their work. For example, one contractor mentioned the need for a custom door supplier for his business.
Designers brought fresh ideas and a creative outlook that inspired us. Their focus on blending aesthetics with functionality reminded us why we do what we do. Collaborating with them could lead to exciting projects that combine style and practicality.
Home builders expressed interest in partnerships that could streamline their supply chain. They valued suppliers who understand construction timelines and quality standards. Building trust with these professionals opens doors to larger projects and long-term cooperation.
Final Thoughts
The Calgary Home and Garden Show was more than just an event; it was a chance to learn, grow, and connect. We left with new ideas, stronger relationships, and a clearer vision for how to serve our community better. By improving our booth design, increasing staff presence, and enhancing follow-up processes, we aim to make our next appearance even more impactful.
